Graham Newton - Chartered Surveyor
Graham Newton ARICS MCIM (Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Marketer) surveys Surrey properties and further afield. He was born and bred in Esher and educated at KCS Wimbledon. He was a keen young farmer in Ockham and a young Bisley marksman, spent years cycling and motorcycling throughout the county where he also walked young people through its much loved hills and country lanes as a youth leader and C of E ordinand of the Guildford Diocese.
The son of a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, consultant to Staines and Egham Councils and Taylor Woodrow Anglian, he had hands on experience from the age of 8 onwards. He learnt about war damage, prefabs and all types of traditional and system housing (including Ronan Point), commercial, industrial and institutional building plus civil engineering surveying skills at Wraysbury reservoir and elsewhere. He knows about Bagshot beds and clay v. Surrey trees.
Mid-career mind stretching saw Graham at Mouchels, Civil Engineers of West Byfleet, lecturing at the Brixton School of Building and selling computer services to quantity surveyors before becoming Marketing Director of Guildford Computer Centre and Commercial Manager of Thorntons, Chartered Surveyors of Woking. He is also a member of Gideons International and visits NW Surrey schools regularly gaining valuable insights in classroom presentations.
He established his own practice in 1974 as a commercial and residential estate agent soon switching to specialise in structural/building surveys and mortgage valuations plus design and refurbishment of residential and commercial properties. As the father of six children he has learnt the importance of maximising space use and adapting homes to family life.
Using that unusually wide experience and in depth knowledge of Surrey, Graham remains committed to his mission of providing "RAPID RESPONSE REPORTS IN INTELLIGIBLE TERMS" which he achieves by cutting through the congestion, now all too common in Surrey, on his "ladder-backed bike".
