TODAY'S WOKING/WEST BYFLEET AND AROUND
Hockering
This is a small area of substantial residences lying within a half-mile or so of Woking's main line station and town centre. The residents privately own all of the roads and therefore development of new housing has been strictly controlled. Thus, garden sizes maintain generous proportions making this one of the most sought-after locations to live in the borough. Property values here, in consequence, remain at the highest end of the spectrum. Many of the houses were constructed around the beginning of the 1900's by Tarrant, famous for building many of the homes on nearby St George's Hill.
