Woking and its neighbouring village West Byfleet are exceptionally convenient areas to live in benefiting from superb railway connections to Waterloo, Portsmouth, Southampton and the West Country (Waterloo from 26 mins) and benefiting from a non-stop bus connection to London Heathrow Airport from Woking Station. Ideally situated within three/four miles of junction 10 & 11 of the M25, the A3 and M3 are similar distances away.
Woking has its own hugely popular shopping mall ‘The Peacocks' as well as further shopping in Wolsey Walk, Chertsey Road etc. Adjacent to the Peacocks shopping centre is the Ambassadors Theatre, which stages West End productions and has a sister theatre ( the Rhoda McGaw) with more amateur presentations . There is also a six screen cinema complex adjacent and the award winning Light Box Art Gallery is close by. West Byfleet offers a fine array of mainly independent shops but includes Waitrose and Boots and has the Basingstoke Canal running through the village and the Wey Navigation Canal running through nearby Pyrford and Byfleet.

To sum up, Woking & West Byfleet are situated in a glorious part of West Surrey, close to the North Downs at Guildford and yet within easy driving distance of London and the coast. There is a wide variety of state and fee paying schools (on the left, click on Woking Today, Focus, Schools) and many companies choose this area for head offices with good local employment opportunities.
Sports and recreational facilities are excellent, there are numerous golf courses, health and fitness clubs, tennis clubs etc. and Woking is well known for its ‘hobbies' clubs from Archery to Whist.
